The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) has officially released the notification for B. Architecture Admissions 2024. This is a crucial opportunity for aspiring architects from the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to secure admission in the esteemed B. Architecture courses offered by Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu (School of Architecture, GCET Campus Kot Bhalwal) and GCET Safapora, Ganderbal (School of Architecture, Safapora, Ganderbal) for the academic session 2024.

This announcement follows the declaration of results by the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The admissions will be governed by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination Act, 2002, along with the relevant amendments under the J&K Reorganization Act, 2019.

JKBOPEE B. Architecture Eligibility Criteria

Who is eligible to apply?
To be eligible for admission to the B. Architecture courses, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • 10+2 or Equivalent Examination: Candidates must have passed with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with either Chemistry, Biology, Technical Vocational subject, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics, or Business Studies, securing at least 45% marks in aggregate.
    • 10+3 Diploma Examination: Candidates must have passed with Mathematics as a compulsory subject, securing at least 45% marks in aggregate.
  2. Entrance Exams:
    • A valid score in NATA 2024 or JEE 2024 is required for admission consideration.

This eligibility is provisional and may be subject to change based on further communications from the concerned authority or university.

How to Apply for JKBOPEE B Architecture 2024?

What is the application process?
Candidates interested in applying for the B. Architecture course must submit their Registration Cum Counselling Form physically at the JKBOPEE offices in Jammu or Srinagar between August 20, 2024, and August 24, 2024 (up to 4:00 PM). The following documents, duly self-attested, must be submitted along with the application:

  1. Domicile Certificate: UT of J&K or UT of Ladakh (For Ladakh candidates, ST certificate issued by the competent authority shall be treated as a Domicile Certificate).
  2. Qualifying Marks Certificate: 12th class certificate with the required subjects or 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics as a compulsory subject (whichever is applicable).
  3. Score Card: NATA 2024 or JEE 2024 scorecard, or both, as applicable.
  4. Date of Birth Proof: 10th Marks card or Diploma issued by a recognized board.
  5. Reserved Category Certificate: If applicable, a valid certificate is required.
  6. Application Fee: A fee of Rs. 1200, payable through POS machine at the BOPEE office in Jammu/Srinagar using debit/credit card.

Important Note:

  • No “under process” certificate will be accepted.
  • The application form is available at BOPEE offices in Jammu/Srinagar and is also annexed as Annexure “A” to this notification.
  • The documents submitted will be considered provisional and may be subject to changes based on subsequent orders issued by the Government.

Admission and Selection Process

How will candidates be selected?
Admission to the B. Architecture courses will be based on a merit-cum-preference system. The Board will fill up the 80 available seats (40 seats at GCET Jammu and 40 seats at GCET Safapora, Ganderbal) according to the preferences indicated by candidates in their registration cum counselling forms.

Tie-Breaking Criteria:

  • If two or more candidates have the same merit, their Mathematics marks in the 12th class examination or 10+3 Diploma Examination will be considered.
  • In case of a further tie, the candidate’s Date of Birth (D.O.B) will be considered for selection.

Additional Considerations:

  • The final filling of seats is contingent on approval from the competent authority, and the Board will notify any updates accordingly.
